New Features
What’s new in release 6.0? We improved CARAT and kept it up-to-date with industry and trade research
and updates. We responded to your feedback and requests and enhanced the functionality and usability of the software.
We kept up with computing technology and made sure CARAT is compatible with the latest version of Windows platform – Microsoft Vista and Windows 7.

The following highlights the main areas that have been addressed:
  • Gemology – CARAT 6.0 adds many diamonds and gemstones attributes and functionality that will enhance the quality and professional outlook and compliance of your appraisals.
    This includes full support for new shapes (Asscher and Cushion) and many attributes such as color, clarity and cut grade.
    Additional functions have been added including access to calculator and a Cut Grade assistant that will help you assess the cut quality of diamonds.
    An unlimited number of photos can now be included with every appraisal.
  • Usability – CARAT 6.0 enhances your use experience by adding significant features to ease searching for and access to appraisals, improved certificate printing in support for multiple-item certificates, added audit trail functionality over the life cycle of an appraisal and printing of annotated side-view diamond diagram (in addition to the existing top and bottom view inclusions plot diagrams.)
    • Database maintenance - CARAT 6.0 enhances database functionality and integrity and a significant number of features were added to assure continued operation and recovery under most conditions.
  • Graphics support – CARAT 6.0 provides better support for graphics files such as jewelry photos. Jewelry photo files will be examined upon selection and are no longer stored in the database. They are now maintained using the native Window’s file system thus removing many of the issues involved in loading unnecessary large amounts of data into the database.
